TRAILS ARE IN JEOPARDY, YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION IS REQUIRED ! Print

ANOTHER ACTION ALERT WAS SENT BY NYSSA PRESIDENT, MIKE FISCHER REGARDING THE LOSS OF TRAIL FUNDS!

To avoid permanent trail closures due to non-funding YOU must act immediately to contact your local Assembly person and Senator and ask them to VETO or vote NO to the Governor's proposal to have the NYS Dept. Of Budget enabled to transfer monies from the "Trail Fund" to the "General Fund" and used for other reasons unrelated to snowmobiling. Language in the Bill proposals of A9709/S6609 further give authority and wide latitude to transfer these funds! Your Assembly and Senator legislators can be found at the following links:  http://assembly.state.ny.us/mem/?zip=xxxxx   and www.nysenate.gov/legislation . E-mail them by copying and pasting a sample letter from NYSSA, by going to "Read more..." for further direction. YOU MUST ACT RIGHT NOW OR OR LOSE THE TRAIL FUND TO FRIVOLOUS & ABUSIVE WITHDRAWALS BY  NYS-GOVERNMENT OFFICES !!!

ANOTHER HOT ISSUE EFFECTING SNOWMOBILERS RIGHT NOW & ALSO NEEDS YOUR E-MAIL LETTER , YESTERDAY !:

From Your FS-R President, Joel Church:

The DEC is going to close some fantastic snowmobile trails around the Speculator area.

If you ride snowmobiles in NYS, please follow up to voice your concerns by writing, calling, or e-mailing to the addresses and phone number provided in the links below.

This action the DEC wishes to take will have long and far reaching effects on snowmobiling.  The removal of trails from the interior to the roadsides is what this is all about.  It will keep snowmobiles from getting out in the truly wild parts of the Adirondacks.

Time is critical and action must be taken now!

We need all snowmobilers to do this.  Comments are due to the NYS DEC by February 19, 2010 to the attention of Mr. Thomas Kapelewski.

Altough three days late send it out now anyway. You can copy & paste a letter from the website link into the e-mail to Thomas Kapelewski. You can edit it to your own words, but include your name & town at the bottom of the message.

Action Alert from the New York State Snowmobile Association

The recently issued amendment 2010 draft amendment to the 2005/2006 Jessup River Wild Forest Unit Management Plan has a number of signifigant negative changes.   NYSSA is very concerned that the are trail closures that are unnecessary under the guidelines and as a result will isolate users and businesses who have historically had access to the trail system.  The amendment should have leveraged the  Class I Trail guidelines to preserve access by residents, visitors and businesses.

Your calls, e-mails, and letters are needed to preserve trail access to all snowmobilers.

If you utitlize the example letter, it is critical that you personalize, edit and add your own comments on this matter for your letter to count.

Comments are due to the NYS DEC by February 19, 2010 to the attention of Mr. Thomas Kapelewski.
